Sam Murphey
Sam Murphey never could have imagined he would lead a theatre group until one day when the phrase, “Let’s do it!” came into his mind. Growing up as a military dependent, Sam moved constantly until he was able to call NWA home. Having 40+ shows under his belt as a Stage Manager, he wanted to jump into a new adventure, and thus Defying Limits Theatre Group was born.

Susie Poindexter
With a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Virginia Tech and over 12 years of experience supporting community theatre, Susie is passionate about creating inclusive and enriching theatrical experiences. As a dedicated advocate for neurodiverse performers, she has championed her son’s involvement in theatre for over a decade, fostering opportunities for actors of all abilities to shine on stage. In addition to her work in theatre, she is a Professional Organizer, bringing her skills in coordination and efficiency to every production. Above all, she values the connections she builds as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, embracing the power of storytelling to unite and inspire communities.

Kendra Ervin
Kendra was born in California before she moved to Arkansas when she was 13. She joined her school's theatre program and received the best in state for duet acting. Kendra always loved theatre and everything it had to offer. She love cats, knitting, and anything creative.

Costume Designer
Lynnette Fennell
Lynnette is a native of the NWA area, calling Fayetteville her home for the last several years watching her 4 children grow up into amazing adults- 2 of which have earned and are continuing to pursue theatre degrees. Lynnette holds a degree in Fashion Design and has spent a number of years in the fashion and retail industry. Currently she is working for an interior design studio. Theatre has captivated her since her very first role as Tiny Tim when she was in the 4th grade. She has done a handful of productions with Pilot Arts where she was privileged to work with Sam. She was very excited to learn about Defying Limits and is extremely honored to be a part of this amazing group and bring her experience and strengths to the table here.

Yesenia Mata
Yesenia Mata is from Rogers Arkansas. She received her BA from the University of Arkansas' Department of Theatre with Playwriting as her area of focus. Storytelling and collaboration is one of her greatest joys in life and she couldn't be more grateful to be part of the Defying Limits Family!

Hair & Makeup Designer
Randall Lothes
Randall Lothes of Rogers, Arkansas has been a hair, wig and makeup artist in Northwest Arkansas over the past 15 plus years. His work can be seen on stage and on film all over the region. He is a member of the Arkansas Public Theatre board of producers and has worked with various theatre groups across the area. Randall is also a Special Education Professional with the Rogers Public School District and has been working in the special education field for close to 18 years. “Both my passion for helping others and my love for theatre have always wanted to converge. . . now they get that chance.”​

Front of House Manager
Ashley Cohea
Ashley Cohea is an NWA native who brings heart, hustle, and hospitality to the front of house. With almost 20 years experience in professional and academic theatre, Ashley has managed ticketing, events, and community outreach—always with a deep commitment to making theatre accessible and welcoming for all. Her dedication isn’t just professional; it’s deeply personal. Away from the theatre Ashley is an avid concert-goer and vintage toy collector. She can often be found hunting the local flea markets for He-Man, She-Ra, and TMNT finds with her husband and son or hitting the road for live shows.

Accountant
Calla Bassett
Calla Bassett Bigg, is a trans man and their pronouns are he/him. He is a graduate student studying astrophysics. He love to write, swim and sing and play larp on the weekends. He has surprising amount of graphic design experience for an astrophysicist, some for work and some for personal projects. Fun fact! Calla was also a member of the costume department of their High School Theatre Department.​

Email Marketing Specialist
Mark Greiner
Mark is currently seeking a Master of Liberal Arts at Arkansas Tech University. I enjoy night drives, snowy days, and the beach. On the side, he writes web novels, plays video games with his friends, and works on his Japanese language skills. He is ecstatic to join DLTG and looks forward to the future of it!

Matthew “Matt” Bragg
Growing up in Northwest Arkansas, Matthew “Matt” Bragg has participated in community theater since he was 14 years old. Currently studying Theatre Performance at Missouri Southern State University, Matt continues to broaden his acting abilities with every role he takes. In addition to performance, Matt extends his theatrical resume to include technical roles, being well experienced in sound design, prop design, and stage management. Currently at the beginning of his theatrical career, Matt remains excited to share the art of theatre through Defying Limits.

Lilly Bostic
Lily is a functioning starving artist that works a desk job, and is a cat mom. She joined DLTG because she enjoys exploring the world of theatre and the stories within it. "Glad to say I'm part of this one and I anticipate where this story may go."

Videographer
Josh Farrell
Josh Farrell is a creative filmmaker and video producer from Fayetteville, Arkansas. In 2022, he co-founded a film company and YouTube channel alongside his cousins, where they explore their passion for storytelling and digital media. With a strong background in video editing and production, Josh has worked on a variety of projects, including short films, skits, video essays, and comedy reels. He is excited to join Defying Limits Theatre Group to help showcase the behind the scenes efforts and work with creatives in a new format on stage.

Cybersecurity Officer
Michael Byrd
“Michael Byrd is a lifelong supporter and participant in the theater and the arts. Spending most of his time on the dark side of the theater he has held many roles from curtain-puller to stage manager. After a few years break he began participating in the NWA theater scene and found a community.“
